The Department of Languages provides instruction in professional communication in English for all study programs at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology, STU, and instruction in Slovak (as a foreign language) for international students.
The English language curriculum focuses on developing general language skills with an emphasis on the specific use of English as a means of communication in science and technology, acquiring information, and presenting one's research, production processes, etc. The long-term goal of studying English at the Faculty is to enable all graduates to reach a level of knowledge and skills that allows them to present a significant part of their final thesis in English and manage communication situations during international study exchanges.
In teaching Slovak, we focus on developing relevant vocabulary, presentation, and communication skills. Innovative methodological approaches are applied in the teaching of both languages.
