Internationalization of the Slovak Academic Community through the Creation of an Adequately Language-Prepared Environment Considering Historical and Cultural Differences in Everyday Contact
The Department of Languages participated in the project in the English and Slovak languages.
This project was implemented based on the approved schedule of grants for public higher education institutions as part of the call for development projects for public universities in 2023 under the Horizon scheme. Project number: 2023.1.
The "Internationalization of the Slovak Academic Community" project was initiated with the goal of increasing the language preparedness of members of the university community in the context of the growing need for communication in foreign languages.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
The project takes into account historical and cultural differences and aims to create an appropriate environment for effective international cooperation. The main goal is to improve the level of English among students, academic staff, and university employees, thus strengthening their ability to engage in international projects and exchanges.
Course Implementation
- Organizing regular English language courses for university staff and employees who come into direct contact with foreign students.
- Based on the evaluation of questionnaires and the development of course proposals, selecting the provider of language courses; Department of Languages, FCHPT.
- Organizing pilot language courses in English for employees of pilot centers, teaching staff (support for young individuals under 50 years old), and university employees in direct contact with foreign students.

SLOVAK LANGUAGE
Improving intercultural and inclusive communication skills of foreign students at FCHPT STU with a B1 language level. Preparation of informational and communicative texts related to specific events, creation of materials, and summary of the vocabulary used.
Organizing Sociocultural Events:
- Attending theater performances
- Lectures on the history of Slovakia
- Visits to museums and galleries combined with lectures
- Discussions on intercultural differences
- Student meetings through social games focused on Slovak as a foreign language
- Trips aimed at exploring the country, its culture, and history
- Organizing sports events to connect Slovak and foreign students and naturally expand their vocabulary
- Screening documentaries and attending film shows
