In this project, coordinated by Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum (DBFZ), is STU represented by the National center for research and application of renewable energy sources (NCOZE), and by the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology (FCHPT STU).
New Internationalisation Project „TREC-Danube“ Over 14 renewable energy networks across the Danube region started a European networking project in order to cooperate in the Horizon 2020 framework. Leipzig’s Renewable Energy Network NEU e.V. is linking up with networks from Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Serbia, Hungary, Moldavia and the Ukraine with a focus on bioenergy and other renewables. The activities are aiming at a European Transnational Renewable Energy Cluster - in short “TREC” interlinking the Danube Region which includes Germany.
The overall goal is to build up a strong and fruitful cooperation between the regional networks. Their members, especially small and medium sized companies, R&D-organisations and Universities but also regional administration shall benefit from better business and project opportunities on international markets.
On 10th and 11th of September the first international workshop of TREC-Danube will take Place in Leipzig. The regional networks and clusters will introduce themselves, show their competencies and present their key players. Also first cooperation projects shall be discussed as for example joint proposals for European Research Program “Horizon 2020”.
The project is funded by German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It is coordinated by Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gGmbH (DBFZ) the German research center for bioenergy. In close cooperation with Fraunhofer MOEZ (focusing on innovation processes) and Netzwerk Energie & Umwelt e.V. (Leipzig’s cluster of renewable energy and environmental technology) the project will take place in a first stage until end of May 2015 and will be prolonged, when first cooperation projects are started.
